Ok.. Say you goof something up but
you're not sure what you did..
Most of the time you can fix it by doing this..

Shut the system down.. Wait about 30 seconds.. 
Restart & keep pressing the F8key till you get the option screen..
 
Choose to start with COMMAND PROMPT only (DOS).. 
At the C prompt type in scanreg/restore 

You will get a list of backed up registrys you can restore.. 
It only goes back about 5 days..You just pick one back to before you
started having problems then restart.. It usually fixes
whatever you messed up.
  
Another good thing to use with Windows 98 is Msconfig.. 
Makes booting up a lot faster :o)
